FACULTIES

Faculty of Information Technology:

      After 25 years  of establishment and development, the Faculty of Information Technology has become one of the nation’s finest place of learning information technology. Currently, the Faculty is the home of nearly 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students and 60 highly qualified and delicate staffs.

The Faculty offers a wide range of courses in Computer Science and Engineering, and provides well-equipped laboratories for practice and research. For education and research collaboration, the Faculty has a number of close connections with foreign universities and institutes in Northern America, Europe, Australia, and the region.

Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering:

  The Faculty has the functions of training, doing  research and international cooperation in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. There are 3 levels of training: undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D  in 3 fields: Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering and Automatic Controls. With highly qualified teaching staffs and laboratories, the Faculty can supply students with basic and modern knowledge. The Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering has carried out research  topics at all levels.  The Faculty has a lot of connections to SUPEÙLEC ( France), Western Australia University ( Australia), Texas A& M University ( U.S.A.) … and to Viet Nam Power Company, 2nd Power Company, HCMC Post Office …..

Faculty of Civil Engineering:

    The Faculty, consisting of 132 Professors, Associate Professors, Masters and Engineers working in 11 Departments and Laboratories, offers training programs to  3,933 full-time students and 1266 part-time students in HCMC and 8 southern provinces in  the fields of: Civil & Industrial Engineering, Road & Bridge Engineering, Harbor & Coastal Woks Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Construction Materials Engineering,  Surveying & Mapping Engineering. For postgraduate program, the Faculty has 285 students in 9 fields of study. Moreover, the Faculty has a collaboration with Liege University   ( Belgium) in  EMMC  program ( European Master of Construction Mechanics).

For scientific research there are:

-          Research & Application Center for Construction Technology ( REACTEC): Consulting, designing, surveying, evaluating construction works, hydraulic works and transportation.

-          Research Center for Colorings & Highgrade Abrasive Materials                                                                                                    

Construction Mechanical Computing Room: teaching IT in designing and structural computing by FEM.

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering:

    The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers  a modern and practical training program, supplying students with knowledge and necessary  skills  to be future leaders  in  engineering. The Faculty’s duty is to carry out fundamental   and applied research to support  the industrialization and modernization of the economy, contributing effectively to the development  and updating knowledge of  technology, supporting teaching via receiving and transferring technology, making it a leading  unit in research and teaching in the field of mechanical engineering.

Faculty of Applied Sciences:

  The Faculty of Applied Sciences ( established in 2002) offers programs leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering in two fields: Engineering Physics ( the intensive field: Biomedical Physics) and Engineering Mechanics; Master of Engineering in: Laser Engineering ( Application of Laser in Engineering and Medicine), and Applied Analytic Mathematics; and Doctor of Philosophy in Optical Instruments.

 

Another important part of the Faculty’s activities is R&D and Technology Transfer oriented to manufacturing hi-tech products and gradually completing them for commercialization. Some of the effective commercialized applications are: 25 CNC Sets, 17 Balancing Machines, 21 Measuring Equipment Sets designed and made by the Lab of Applied Mechanics and transferred to the industry, and more than 160 hospitals and clinics  using Low Power Semiconductor Laser Instruments ( 500 instruments plus) for disease treatment in 30 southern cities and provinces.

In the future, the Training Scheme of the Faculty will be expanded to other fields, such as: Biomechanics, Mechatronics, Multi-phase Environmental Mechanics, Photonics, Nano Technology. Etc.

Faculty of Geology and Petroleum:

  The Faculty of Geology and Petroleum trains engineers in 5 fields of specialization: Drilling & Production Technology, Petroleum Geology, Geology & Environment , Geotechnics, Mining Geology. The Faculty also offers postgraduate and Ph.D programs.

Research and technology transfer are oriented to surveying, mapping, mining exploration and production, modelling, designing and consulting in the field of Geology and Petroleum

Faculty of Chemical Technology and Petroleum:

  The Faculty of Chemical Technology & Petroleum is at the forefront of Chemical, Petroleum, Food and Bioengineering training and researches in the South of Viet Nam. The Faculty offers a wide range of research, teaching and support facilities in many fields, including:

-          Chemical Engineering

-          Petroleum Processing

-          Food Engineering

-          Bio Engineering

-          Organic Chemical Technology

-          Inorganic Chemical Technology

-          Physic- Chemical Technology

The Faculty has 7 Departments  and 12 Laboratories conducting the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including M.E., Ph.D. Degrees.

With enthusiastic and experienced teaching staff, including 6 Professors, 23 Doctors, 28 Masters, and 31 Engineers graduated from Viet Nam as well as from foreign countries, such as: Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Japan, Korea …, the Faculty has not only carried out the training but also conducted the researches and technology transfer of great values

Faculty of Environmental Engineering  

  The Faculty of Environmental Engineering was established in 2000 due to the urgent demand of the society. The Faculty concentrates on the following activities:

-          Teaching & training  Environmental Engineers; educating to raise environmental awareness in community.

-          Waste processing technology

-          Designing & building processing systems  for air pollution, waste water, solid waste.

-          Hazardous waste processing ( waste solvent and chemicals)

-          Implementing cleaner production program

-          Environmental impact assessment for projects

Controlling environmental pollution in plants and industrial parks

Faculty of Industrial Management:

 The Faculty of Industrial Management was established in 1990  in  an effort to respond to the increasing demand for management professionals in Viet Nam. The Faculty  offers highly qualified training programs that provide the society with graduates  having skills  in management, such as project management, technology management, quality management, etc.. Concerning degree and training programs, there are:

-          BA of Industrial Management ( 4.5 years)

-          Second University Degree in Industrial Management   ( 2 years)

-          MBA ( 2 years)

-          E-MBA ( 2 years) in cooperation with Maastricht School of Management ( The Netherlands)

-          Certificate short- term training courses in various fields in collaboration with recognized organizations, such as SAV Program ( Swiss- AIT- Viet Nam Management Development Program), UNIDO ( United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and MPDF ( Mekong Project Development Facilities).

Faculty of Materials Technology:   

   The Faculty of Materials Technology was established to do the mission of a leading unit in the industrialization and modernization of the country. The Faculty offers three fields of study: Metal- Alloy Materials, Silicate Materials, Polymer Materials in three levels: Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D.

The Faculty has  50 articles in national as well as international scientific magazines, 2 econo- technical projects, more than 30 research topics and a lot of contracts of technology transfer

Faculty of Transport Engineering:

   The Faculty was established on the combination of the Automobile Department, Ship Building Engineering Department and Aeromechanics Department.

The Faculty offers:

-          Training and collaborative training programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels both domestic and international

-          Research in the fields of combustion, internal combustion engine, automobile dynamics, and aerodynamic  application in transportation.

-          Designing, technology transfer on automobile, specialized cars, ships and boats

Projects  of transportation development related to environmental pollution and non- traditional fuels.
